Arlington Service is a Cost-Effective Solution for Your Lawn and Garden Equipment Service Needs

A fast turn-around time will save you a substantial amount of money and time in the maintenance of your lawn and garden equipment. There are two primary factors that a customer should consider when choosing the shop where they will take their mower for service.

First, one should only consider a Service Dealer that is professionally associated with one or more small engine manufacturers like Toro/ Lawn-Boy, Briggs & Stratton or Tecumseh. This greatly increases the probability that the mechanics who service your lawn mower are qualified to properly do the work as they are required to attend Annual Update Service Schools provided by the engine manufacturers.

Secondly, a customer should carefully consider the turn-around time and how long the mower will be waiting in the shop to be serviced. The longer you are without your mower during the spring and early summer when the grass is growing rapidly, the more money you are likely to spend over and beyond what you will be charged to service your lawn mower. The average turn-around time in the Columbus area is somewhere between 3 to 8 weeks during the peak growing season. Quite Frankly, and putting myself in the place of the customer, I would find this not only less than satisfying but unacceptable.

Simply put, I offer the FASTEST turn-around time in town. This means that at Arlington Service you will be getting your lawn mower back in a matter of days.

Again, the large high volume shops in the Columbus area can keep your lawn mower anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks during the peak growing season through early summer. Certainly, if your lawn mower is tied up for a month or more in another shop you will have to either pay someone else to cut your yard or rent a lawn mower and depending on how fast the grass is growing the cost can really add up quickly. I suspect that for an average size yard you could expect to pay $30 and up per cut every week or two. Add that to the cost of the tune-up and you could be spending up to the replacement value of a new mid-line push lawn mower.

You could also ask to borrow your neighbor's lawn mower and even offer to lend them yours when their lawn mower is being serviced. Afterall, that sounds neighborly and doesn't cost either party any money. Right? But, keep in mind your responsibility for any damage done to that mower while it is under your watchful care. Now, since I repair "borrowed lawn mowers" every year, I know that from time to time unexpected damage and accidents do occur. And, it is a very regrettable experience for both the neighbor and the person who is now faced with the major expense of paying for both the repair or replacement of the neighbor's lawn mower, in addition to his own lawn mower that has been waiting in a busy, high volume shop queue for the last 6 weeks.

These are among the ADDITIONAL COSTS associated with waiting 3 to 8 weeks in the other shops that many people do not consider. And, this doesn't even speak to the time involved making phone calls to arrange to have your grass cut, waiting for the person to arrive or calling back to find out why he/she didn't show up or to express your concern about the damage that was done to your shrubs and plants. Then there are the trips to and from the tool rental store, hoping against hope that the rental lawn mower is in good running condition. As you can imagine, they receive much use and abuse, increasing the incidence of failure even when they are properly maintained. And, when the rental lawn mower fails in your yard there's another round trip and even more time spent in keeping your yard looking presentable while your lawn mower is in another shop for 3 to 8 weeks.

Lastly, you might find the ads that run in the neighborhood papers offering free pick-up or on-site service at a very low price an attractive option. I will only say, BUYER BEWARE! I annually service a fair number of lawn mowers that were "tuned-up" by some of these folks who are trying to earn extra money during the mowing season. Unfortunately, they usually are not associated with a dealership whose mechanics attend annual service schools provided by the various engine manufacturers. And, in nearly all cases, I am able to show the customer during intake that in return for the $40-60 they paid, all they received was a newly washed lawn mower with a new spark plug, air filter, and a sharpened blade that often was not even balanced. But, because it was not properly serviced it quickly failed. Sadly, the customer tossed $40-$60 out the window and is now facing yet another bill to get his/her mower in good running condition.

In contrast, my business is grounded upon serving a smaller customer base. This allows me to do both a quality job as well as return the lawnmower back into the customer's hands quickly so that they can avoid these unforeseen costs involved with the long 3 to 8 week turn-around times found at the other shops.

Here, at Arlington Service, I have over 25 continuous years of PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE and work out of a FULLY EQUIPPED SHOP. I maintain a current and successful completion status in Annual Update Service Schools sponsored by Toro/ Lawn-Boy, Briggs & Stratton, Honda and Tecumseh and take the time to do a THOROUGH JOB on each mower. This includes REMOVING THE HEAD and CLEANING THE VALVES and COMBUSTION CHAMBER on EVERY 4-cycle engine without overhead valves. Some shops do not perform this necessary procedure because of the additional time it takes.

And, yes, I SPECIALIZE in the SHARPENING and CONDITIONING of REEL PUSH MOWERS. I also SHARPEN and BALANCE BLADES on a WHILE-U-WAIT walk-in basis and sharpen GARDEN HAND TOOLS. You may also take advantage of my 36-HOUR EXPRESS SERVICE, eliminating your need to rent or borrow when you need your mower back right away.

All machines leave here STARTING and RUNNING like NEW and are STARTED in the PRESENCE of the customer BEFORE they take them home. All REPLACED PARTS are RETURNED to the customer for inspection.

My name is Warren Bartholomew and I look forward to serving you this year.
